3 Ways to Plan Ahead and Avoid Stress at the Airport

August 19, 2016 by Paul

Airports can be very stressful places for lots of us. It’s a combination of the 6am alarm to get you up for your flight, nervously passing through security and the last minute dash for boarding that seems to get us Brits feeling uptight and anxious. Once you’ve sped down the runway and are safely coasting in the sky, the stress of the airport seems to diminish and holiday excitement can finally start. The best way to combat a stressful airport experience for your next flight is to plan ahead. Of course, if your anxiety is preventing you from even booking a holiday because you’re so nervous, it might be worth seeking professional help – you could see how hypnotherapy could help with anxiety. But, if you’re able to get yourself to the airport, you could use these three easy tips and you’ll never experience airport anxiety again.

Pack Carefully

It might seem a good idea to take that dress that used to be your favourite thing to wear back in your teens but hasn’t been taken out of the wardrobe since, on your 7-day break, but in reality you’re not going to wear it. Being a savvy packer is key to avoiding stress while at the airport. With baggage limited on most flights, you’ll be wanting to make the most out of your hand luggage, but be careful what you pack in here. If you find out far in advance what can go in your hand luggage, then you’ll be sure to fly through security stress free. Click here to find out what you can and cannot take on the plane.

Organise How You’ll Get There

To avoid endless nights of worry, make sure you’ve planned how you’re going to get to the airport a good 2 hours before your flight is due to take off. Taxis are a popular choice but can be pricey depending on where you’re travelling from. Another disadvantage to getting a taxi is that you’ll be forced to wait for another to take you back when returning home. Taking your car and parking at the airport can also be expensive, but definitely much more convenient. Check out this Glasgow airport parking price comparison webpage to see the best option for you when parking at Glasgow airport.

Book Yourself an Airport Lounge

The hustle and bustle of an airport can often be very overwhelming for some passengers. After the stress of airport security, you just want to be able to relax with a steaming brew or cold beer. With the lack of private areas and price of airport refreshments, it’s easy for anxiety to build once in the terminal. So, book yourself an airport lounge at a very competitive price to make your time in the terminal stress free. Enjoy a private location and free food/drink; book yours here.

By following these three easy steps you’re guaranteed to have a stress free time at the airport when jetting off next time. Instead of getting anxious about the ordeal before your holiday, get excited at the fun you’re going to have while away. After your first stress free visit to the airport you’ll be wanting to book your next trip abroad immediately.
