Las Vegas is the land of fame, fun and fortune. You can strike it rich, lose it all, get married and drink a 64 ounce cocktail all in one day. The options are endless. Las Vegas has long been the home of all things oddball, but have you experienced this individual of a town for yourself? If all you know of Las Vegas is the term “sin city,” you could be missing out.
In recent years, Las Vegas has only continued to improve its hospitality industry and recreational opportunities. LV Sands has only continued to commit to the sustainability industry and other resorts are taking the hint. Now you can travel to Vegas and stay in a hotel that is working to give back to the environment instead of simply take. Included here are a few reasons to head out to Vegas and try out all it has to offer.
Dine By the City’s Mountain
Las Vegas’ own Steve Wynn has long been one of the most creative entrepreneurs out there. The Wynn Lake of Dreams looks like a forest covered hill from the outside and is actually a magical Alpine-like getaway within. This resort houses a 150 foot mountain with a 40 feet waterfall and vegetation amid a golf course.
Unique experiences at this magical hotel include dining at SW Steakhouse or Lakeside in front of the waterfall. To indulge in an evening cocktail, you may enjoy Parasol Down. The lake and waterfall come alive with a light show in the evening, showcasing over thousands of lights, holographic images and amazing music.
Experience The Strip
Many of the eclectic elements of Las Vegas can be viewed by simply cruising along the strip. For only $8, you can get an all-day pass on the double-decker busses of Vegas’ main drag. A three day pass will cost you $20, and a 2 hour straight tour will be only $6. This is a great option for people who really want to get a feel for the place and view the entire strip. Not to mention, your tour buddies may be in an entertainment league all their own.
For many people, the trip to Vegas can be exceptional simply due to the unique experiences available to individuals. One of those experiences includes the Stratosphere. Rising as the tallest building in Nevada, the Stratosphere houses all sorts of amenities and oddities, but perhaps the most spectacular, are the amusement rides at the peak.
While strapping yourself into a seat and hanging off the edge of a building may sound terrifying, it is definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience possible in Vegas. The Stratosphere offers four unmatchable rides at its peak, X-Scream, Big Shot, Sky Jump and Insanity: The Ride. The names of these experiences do more than enough to demonstrate their adrenaline-pumping powers.
Get Weird in a Pub Crawl
Drinking and Las Vegas go hand-in-hand, but what if the experience included more than just the booze? Home of the weird and wonderful, Vegas has an unbelievable number of bars that house the strangest things you can imagine. Want to drink alongside a tank of mermaid women? That can be done at the Mermaid Bar and Lounge.
Over at Frankie’s Tiki Room, you can enjoy rum-based drinks while viewing Polynesian hallucinations. This colorful, local dive says Vegas like no other. To have your drink retrieved from a four-story wine cooler by “angels,” visit Aureole. It is likely the only time someone will be winged and harnessed before serving you a glass of wine from a Wine Dispenser Machine.
See a Show
Perhaps one of the most stereotypical Las Vegas images is taken of the geysers erupting in front of Bellagio on the strip. Starting at 3 pm each day, the geysers rocket a magnificent 1,200 feet in the air every half hour. From 8 pm until midnight, these geysers will be going off every 15 minutes, so you are guaranteed to get in on the action.
For more water-based fun, consider heading inside to see one of the most famous Bellagio attractions: Cirque Du Soleil’s performance, O. In a pool/stage that contains over 1.5 million gallons of water, 70 swimmers, divers, contortionists, clowns and aerialists perform. Many claim that this is the most famous paid-for attraction within the city, and it is a must-see while you are in town.
