5 places you should visit in Croatia

May 25, 2021 by Paul

Croatia is known to be one of the best Europe’s tourist destination for decades, attracting millions of visitors each year with its many attractions. It harbors great wealth of stunning natural attractions that anyone enjoys hanging out at. It has a long coastline with thousands of islands and beaches for sun lovers. It is recognized globally as a country with a few world heritage sites. It is a small country which is geographically diverse with so much to offer to the world in terms of adventure. Since it has many cool attraction sites for its visitors, we will name only a few you shouldn’t miss on your next vacation.

PLITVICE LAKE NATIONAL PARK

It is among the oldest and largest national parks in Europe. What makes it world famous are sub lakes seen as cascades. The lakes are well known due to their different colors that range from green, grey and blue, but also they can change it depending on the mineral quantity or organisms present in water or the angle of the sunlight. All lakes have their names given from past live events.

There are big and small waterfalls, wooden paths, water flowing across mossy cascades and nice forests. The park also harbors some endemic species that existed in the lake even before mankind arrived on the Earth.

DUBROVNIK

The beauty of the old town of Dubrovnik attracts more and more people every year. In August tourists can enjoy the annual Dubrovnik summer festival with live plays, concerts and games. Being the coastal town, Dubrovnik has a few nice beaches, which can be a little overcrowded in the summer months. The walls of Dubrovnik was a popular filming location and also attracts many visitors, but it is a little overpriced. Dubrovnik has its own airport and a network of modern buses that aids in transportation of visitors in the city.

SPLIT

The second largest city of Croatia. It is an intra regional transport hub and tourist destination. It has great culture and traditions that are still upheld. There is an archeological museum with a special collection of stone inscriptions, ancient clay lamps, Roman glass, bones, metal articles and gems collections.

There is also a Croatian Maritime Museum that has a collection of marine equipment, ship models, medals, navigation equipment and related artwork.

Popular music festivals also attract many people to flock it there every year.

HVAR ISLAND

This is an island of great beauty. It has a great rich culture and historic heritage, beautiful beaches, high quality accommodation, vast fields of ancient olive trees, vineyards and fields of lavender and crystal blue sea that attracts many visitors each year. Bonus is a mild climate favorable to its visitors.

KORCULA ISLAND

This island is well known for its dense forests and ancient Greek monuments. There are events and annual international festivals that showcase selection of the world’s leading ensembles and soloists. The festivals are carried out in summer time when there are more people to enjoy it. Accessing the island is easy with a regular ferry line.
Above mentioned are only a few cool places you can go to, but there are many more. And, that is probably the reason why many travellers return to Croatia every year. Some even go beyond that and buy a house or flat for themselves where they can return whenever they like.
