I have been doing this flying thing for almost two years now and there is no sign of me tiring or getting bored. The body clock has adjusted beautifully to some different time zones and my mother doesn’t even blink an eye these days when I might be sitting at home in the kitchen, it’s 1.30am and I am having a meal of spaghetti Bolognese! In fact, she now has a whole range of lovely home-cooked meals sitting in the freezer for me to eat during my down times. Love me mum, I do!
We had a flight a couple of weeks ago that was landing in Rome and all of us flight attendants were having a chat about apps. You know, those handy little things on your smartphone that some people cannot live without, while others refuse to download anything but maybe the occasional game. It’s really amazing what some ios developer will come up with these days.
The conversation was about how often we use the apps we currently have on our phones and do they play a significant part in our lives, as they are supposed to, or are they just gimmicky little icons we have sitting on the screen that are rarely put to any use at all? Some of my colleagues are really passionate about the apps they use which had us laughing a bit about the question of what would happen to your life if you lost your phone for a week.
Cynthia, a very switched on young lady, stated that she could use an app for almost everything she did in a day. Everything? And if you could think of any then what apps could you take to developerstars.com and have them create a useful app from your idea? We don’t know where she got that name. Maybe she just looked up ‘hire app developer’on the internet.
Anyway, that got us creating a competition, an idea, of planning a day entirely controlled by your phone apps. Here’s how Cynthia’s day panned out. “Use the Dark Sky app to see what the weather was going to be like. Check my calendar on Sunrise app, make sure there are no birthdays or meetings coming up. If there are any interesting articles to read, then open Pocket app. Take a selfie using the VSCO Cam app and send to my boyfriend. If he wants to go out for a meal, then hit the Wunderlist icon and check out some good places. Scan my Trello app for things that I have listed to do. Do I have any outstanding bills to pay like electric, water, gas or rent? Look at my Check app. if I am in a new city after a flight then CityMaps2Go Pro app will set me on the right path and then activate my Moves app to see how far I have walked for the day.”
At this point, we agreed that apps rule and as we needed to prepare for landing we promised to continue this discussion later.
