It’s a popular trope in Hollywood movies – the last minute rush to get to the airport to reach the soon to take-off plane. It’s dramatic and is often used to drum up excitement, but in real-life we all want the drive to the airport to be as relaxed as possible.
So how can you make sure you get to your chosen airport stress-free? This handy guide should direct you towards simple tactics to make your dream holiday all the more enjoyable.
Pack everything in advance
This may seem obvious, but there are many people who will leave their packing right to the last minute.
This promotes the awful opportunity to forget your passport in the mad rush to remember everything, so get everything staggered out over a few days or a week to make this side easier.
Book a cab
Legendary services such as Uber are a fantastic way to make sure you get to the airport with plenty of time to spare. If you’ve not used the service before, this guide will introduce you to a cheap and effective way to travel.
Hire a van
If there’s a group of you, why not hire out a van to stash all of your luggage in and head on over to the airport? You could leave it parked at the airport too (depending on how long you’re away for!), for which I’ve got a tip on that later (along with an effective service to help you along).
However, do remember to make sure your van tyres are in check so you can avoid any flat tyres or any problems with any extra weight the vehicle will be carrying. A new set of compounds will keep everything flowing along nicely.
Plan your route
Whether it’s Google Maps or any other app you want to download, you’ll want to know the best way to the airport (even if it’s with an Uber driver who claims to know the best route or a shortcut), make sure you know exactly where you’re heading.
In other words, plan it out before hand and then you’ll be able to tick off landmarks you pass on your way to the airport and a happy holiday.
Avoid complications
Whilst you may want to have an ultra-emotional scene with your friends and family who you’ll be seeing in a few weeks again anyway, but remember those long goodbyes can add on extra time to your journey.
The unusual thing about holidays is they can be stressful and unexpected complications can emerge, so get to the airport in good time and all will likely be well from there. Heck, you can download social accounts such as Instagram to keep everyone you know updated about what you’re up to.
Get problem free parking
Again, going back to potential parking issues or your vehicle, you can use a service such as stress free parking for a price comparison of the parking spaces which are available to you. It’s then possible to pick the place of your choice, fully in the knowledge you’ve made a cost-effective decision. Nice one, indeed!
