The best places to stay when on holiday in Devon

July 11, 2022 by Paul

Devon is England’s not-so-hidden gem, and a perfect location to soak up Britain’s summer sun when on holiday. Known for wonderful beaches to have a fun time on, glorious villages to explore, and patchworks of farmland to marvel at; Devon truly is a slice of heaven. But your holiday in this idyllic part of the country could all be ruined by poor accommodation. So here is our list to help you stay in the best places when on holiday in Devon.

Holiday Parks in Devon

Woolacombe Bay Holiday resort

The famous holiday resort provides you with stunning views out onto the sea and Woolacombe’s famous golden sands just a walk away from the resort, it is one of North Devon’s gems. It’s more than just a place to stay, it can provide you with an adventure. There are water flumes, trails and climbing walls to enjoy. Or if you enjoy a slightly slower pace of life, there are incredible spa facilities you can make use of.

Beachside Holiday Park

If you prefer a self-catering holiday park rather than an all inclusive experience, then Beachside is the location for you. Right on the seafront, there are a range of static caravans & apartments you can stay in for a superb beach side holiday. Some of these caravans come with hot tubs, and others are dog friendly.

Hotels in Devon

The Meadfoot Bay

Hidden in the rather tranquil location that is Meadfoot bay, and a short walk from Torquay Harbour; the Meadfoot Bay hotel is the perfect place if you are looking to have a luxurious stay. However this is an adult only hotel and will not accept children under 14 as guests, so this isn’t for everyone.

Orestone Manor

If you are looking for a taste of life in a classic country house, the Georgian Orestone manor is where you want to stay. Set amongst the pretty South Devon coastal village of Maidencombe, you can enjoy country life as well as sea views over Lyme Bay.

Camping Site in Devon

Bales Ash Campsite

Lying above  the Taw Valley, you will be granted views stretching across Exmoor at Bales Ash as well as a complete escape from the pace of modern life. This is a huge campsite, meaning you won’t feel cramped or preyed upon by fellow campers.

Guest Houses in Devon

Brookside Guest House & Mini Spa

If you want something that is both contemporary and stylish, then the Brookside boutique guest house has elegantly created luxury rooms for you to enjoy. Brookside will give you incredible service and be a brilliant place to stay, whilst still being affordable.

Bay View Guest House

Snuggled away in Beer, the Bay View Guest House is located in the picturesque fishing village. It is a great bed and breakfast, and has a long tradition of offering great stays for its guests, and has done so for over 50 years.

Unusual Accommodation in Devon

Hedley Wood Holiday Park

If you are looking for something a little different, then why not camp out under the stars whilst still having all your creature comforts? At Hedley Wood you can do just that with their glamping facilities.

Old Light Lower

Lundy is one of Devon’s most interesting spots, and its old lighthouse keepers accommodation has spectacular views of the northern part of the Island. There is only the Atlantic between the lighthouse and the far shores of America, so it’s a great place to ponder any thoughts you have had.
