Top tips for traveling on a budget

October 6, 2017 by Paul

Travelling can be an amazing experience if you’ve got money to burn, but there’s nothing to stop you having a fantastic time on a limited budget.

Overspending on holidays or short breaks can spoil your enjoyment of the trip, particularly when you’re paying off the debt when you return home.

Read on for our top five tips for travelling on a budget.

Set a spending limit

It might be an obvious statement to make, but not setting your budget before you book any travel is unadvisable.

Try and save in advance and look for ways to boost your spending power. Overtime at work or checking out special offers such as the Genting Casino Promotion Code can help you increase your spending power.

Scour your current personal budget and look for areas where you can cut costs to enable you to save for your trip.

Book at the last minute

Booking early can help you save for your holiday as you know in advance what your target is, but you can access some great savings by leaving it late.

Lots of travel websites now specialise in late bookings, offering big discounts on package deals, hotels and flights.

Always check out direct booking deals, as many hotels and airlines are keen to fill their rooms and seats with travellers.

Don’t travel during the peak season

Have you always fancied a trip to Paris? The city is just as beautiful in the spring as it is during the middle of July, but the savings you can make by travelling earlier in the year can be huge.

An additional bonus when you travel in the off-season is the main attractions are less crowded, allowing you to have a less stressful trip.

Tourist seasons differ around the world, so do your homework before travelling to make sure youtake advantage of the very best deals.

Sign up for travel alerts

If you’re flexible about when you can travel it makes sense to stay informed about the latest offers across the industry.

Browsing the internet for deals can be time-consuming, but signing up for email alerts from a handful of websites can help you access some great savings.

Alerts from entertainment operators are also worth keeping an eye on, as these can give you savings you can use when you travel.

Use budget hotels for short trips

It can be tempting to ignore the cost of your accommodation for a short trip, but using budget hotels can provide sizeable savings.

Many of the cheaper hotel chains are functional rather than extravagant, but for the amount of time you’ll spend in your room is it really worth blowing your budget on luxuries you don’t really need?
